Terms of service

Draft, not reviewed by counsel

This text describes how Retoque intends to operate. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not final. It will be reviewed and may change before any paid license is sold.

Who these terms are between

These terms cover your use of the Retoque website, registry API, command-line client and creator studio (together, "the service"). Retoque is a working name for a product in development by Kordaen. "We" means the operator of the service. "You" means the person or organization using it. If you use the service for an organization, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.

What the service is

Retoque distributes patches: LoRA adapter weights for specific open-weight base models, with evaluation reports, signatures and license terms. We also provide tools to train, evaluate and submit patches. We do not host or provide base models, and we do not provide access to closed API models.

A patch is tested for one declared task on one exact base checkpoint. Evaluation results describe what happened on the stated test suite. They are not a promise about how a patch will behave on your data, hardware or runtime.

Accounts and keys

  • You sign in with an emailed link. Keep access to that mailbox secure.
  • Registry keys authenticate you to the Retoque registry only. Treat them as secrets. You are responsible for activity under your keys until you revoke them.
  • Linking a wallet requires signing a challenge message. Signing it does not send a transaction.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload data you don't have the right to use, or that contains secrets or personal data you aren't permitted to process;
  • upload malware, executable payloads, or content designed to attack training or evaluation infrastructure;
  • probe, scrape or attempt to reconstruct sealed evaluation sets;
  • misrepresent a patch's evidence, origin or compatibility, or publish results that were not produced by a real run;
  • use a patch in breach of its license terms or of the base model's license;
  • interfere with the service, bypass rate limits or access controls, or use another person's account or key.

Patches and licenses

Each patch version has its own license terms, shown and identified by digest before you accept or buy. Those terms, together with the patch licensing policy, govern your use of that version. A license never grants rights to the base model.

Once you download a patch, we cannot recall it from your systems. If a version is withdrawn, we will mark it on the patch page and may stop new downloads, but copies already downloaded remain under the terms you accepted.

Payments and the chain

Paid licenses are settled through smart contracts on Robinhood Chain. A purchase is complete only when our server has verified the confirmed onchain event. A transaction receipt records a payment and the terms digest it was made under. It is not a transfer of copyright or ownership of the patch.

Blockchain transactions can't be reversed by us. Network fees are paid by the sending wallet. Activity on a test network is a non-commercial test and creates no paid license. Refund terms, where offered, are stated in the license terms for the version.

Content you submit

You keep ownership of the data and patches you submit. You give us permission to store, process, train on and evaluate your uploads to provide the service to you, and, for versions you choose to publish, to distribute the package and display its evidence. Private datasets are never published. See the dataset policy.

Availability and changes

The service is in development. Features may change or stop, and there is no uptime commitment. Live system state is published on the status page. We may change these terms. Material changes will be shown on this page with a new date before they take effect.

Disclaimers and liability

Patches and the service are provided as is. Model outputs can be wrong even with a patch installed, and you are responsible for checking outputs before relying on them. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of a patch or the service. The final wording of this section requires legal review.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend accounts, keys or listings that breach these terms, put others at risk, or are subject to a credible rights complaint. You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account as described in the privacy policy.
